Things have changed - help please

Hello all,

It's been a while since I've been here, checked my credit score, etc, and just now I went to annualcreditreport.com to get my report and score, and now it is trying to charge me. I know you used to be able to get a free report there once a year with your score. I have a copies of my old ones. Is this no longer the case? I haven't done this in 2 years and wanted to see where I stand now. I went to annualcreditreport and started the process, and it sent me first (out of all 3 bureaus) to TransUnion, but this time in order to get my info, it asked for $11 for the report. Does that even include the score? And am I going to have to pay $11 + to each of the 3 companies? What is going on? How can I get my reports with scores? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you!

I may be mistaken (as is often the case) but I don't believe you've ever been able to get a free score along with a free CR at this site. Only the CR. And the scores you get there are not true FICO scores. You can only buy them at a few places. One place is here at myfico. I suggest you do an internet search for "myfico discount codes" to save a little money. You can also purchase your Equifax score at www.equifax.com and your Transunion score at www.transunioncs.com.

Hi Marinevietvet,

Thank you so much.

You weren't mistaken - I was. Smiley Wink

You are right - you could get the reports free but not the scores. Sheesh. I remembered it wrongly.

Well I was too hasty and paid for scores BEFORE I got your reply. And what I found was verrrrry annoying. Smiley Mad Three completely different scores:

Equifax 550 (yeeeks), Exp 629, and TU 636. So are they all pretty much useless as far as accuracy? 550 is ridiculous, I've been paying all loans and cards on time and above minimum. But my debt to credit ratio is high so I know that has a bad effect.

Anyway, so you're saying none of them are true FICO scores?

It's not unusual for the scores to be different by quite a bit sometimes. None of the CRA's have exactly the same information listed. My two scores are 37 points apart.

As I said you can get true FICO's here at myfico or at www.equifax.com and www.transunioncs.com. (Note the -cs in the address. You can't personally pull a score for Experian anymore. If you decide to get your accurate scores I'd be curious how they compare to your FAKO scores.

Re: Things have changed - help please

Just pulled my scores from freecreditreport.com

TU-708  Eq-703  Ex-703

and Credit Karma

Tu-697

Compared with scores pulled here

5/09 TU- 715    7/09 Eq-680

I have one late payment from almost 7 yrs ago which only shows on Eq. My major neg is utililization which I'm slowly trying to pull down. I was over 80% and had recently gotten this down to 73% when I decided to take a 401K loan which will take me down to 55%.

I got the Karma acct and FCR because I wanted to track multiple sources as the payoff from 401K hits.

Got my fingers crossed hoping the lines don't counter by lowering my limits to push util back up.
