This Forum ROCKS!!!

Until I found this forum I couldn't for the life of me figure out why the hell my score was so low!  I had awesome credit, and plenty of it, but I could never seem to crack 700.  Then I started reading here and found out about utilization.  I started looking really hard at what was going on with my reports.  I had two Amex cards, and a Neiman Marcus card all reporting with big balances and 0 as the limit.  I had one other card with a small limit, but pretty much everything else had no limit, so my utilization was several hundred percent!  I was maxed out by cards that I PIF monthly!  So I got a few other cards with real limits, started paying my cards before the statement closed and my score has gone up by over 100 points in the last two months!  The best part is that I'm showing 754 today,  and I'm still at 64% util!  When Amex finally reports this month with no balance I'm hoping to be close to the 800 mark!  I can't believe the difference it has made, and I never would have known if I hadn't come here!  Thanks, Myfico!

Re: This Forum ROCKS!!!

It truly is an awesome forum.

If your Amex cards are charge cards they wouldn't have been affecting your utility though. If they were one of the cards that you don't have to PIF every month then there should be a limit reporting.

I am not sure on the particulars of the Nieman Marcus card or your other account but if you had charge cards, paying off those alone would likely solve your utility problem.

Both of my Amex personal card report at revolving because they have the option to revolve a balance if you want.  I called and told a CSR that I didn't want it, but she said it was reporting correctly because I have the option to have the option.  lol  I guess NM just reports that way.
