This Is Not An Advertisement!!!

I am Not an employee of FICO and this is NOT an advertisement!

I see a lot of threads and posts from folks wondering what types of cc's, loans and etc. they might qualify for, while at the same time have no idea what their credit scores are.  My advice, always pull your FICO (not FAKO) scores/reports before you apply for anything.  You must have a starting point and it is your scores.  Then you can concern yourself with "do I really need to apply for credit", your income, DTI (debt to income ratio), work history, how will applying effect me, is it good or is it bad and so forth.  You potentially shoot yourself in the foot when going out an placing app's for credit and not knowing where you stand.  This just my opinion!

Not saying you do not know your scores.  But there are countless people who do not and go out applying for credit and wonder why they are denied.  I am not suggesting that folks go out applying for credit every to weeks and also pull their scores/reports every two weeks.  What I am suggesting, is if you feel you need a cc, loan or what have you, and do not know your scores because you have not pulled them in awhile, you should before signing any application.

Exactly, I never want to be surprised by some unpaid account from 15 years ago being re-aged and showing up on my CR even though it is 8 years outside of the SOL.  Not knowing something like this and applying for a mortgage, ouch!Smiley Surprised

Agreed... You should always know your FICO scores before applying for anything.. and if you educate yourself enough you should know better to apply without 99% confidence that you will be approved.
