This is so weird on my CR - what should I do?

Okay, I have two delinquent charge cards. One from Victorias Secret and the other from another retail store. Both were delinqent 03/2002. Both are listed on CR as past due 120+ days - showing still current and with a balance of $300.00 each. Also states in notes that they are charged off - even though still showing balance. On my CR - it shows these as past due recently (which is weird for a 2002 CO).

Anyways, there is no CA listed on all three reports BUT i have been getting letters from NCO trying to collect the debt.

here is what is weird: There is no CA listed but they have been sending letters.

Do I call the OC and try to pay? Do I dispute? I have the $ to pay.... what should I do?

From my experience. If the CA is not listed, I would send the money to the OC, especially since they are showing a balance. I would not call them, because they may zero the balance out and have the CA list on your report. Send a check, so you know when they cash it and send it CMRRR or Fedex.

This way the OC will show payment, NCO will leave you alone and you will nothave to pay any bogus collection charges. Since the balance is still showing, this is factoring in your revolving debt utilization. By, paying it off, it will cause the utilization to go down and your scores should improve. I have had success with this method.

I haven't heard of that before but that sounds like a great idea. Most people call to try to make arrangements but if they have the $$ in their hand I would think they would take it and 0 your balance out.

Re: This is so weird on my CR - what should I do?

I tried this a couple of times and when I called, the OC would say no and I would have to pay the CA (which was not on my CRA). But, I did not and just sent the check to the OC. When they cashed it and updated my CRA, my scores shot way up!!! I tried this three times and I never had any problems. The CA listed once after I paid the OC (I guess they did not check). But, I called them and told them I did not owe the debt and I disputed the entry as it was paid before the CA added to report and the CA deleted it after the OC confirmed debt paid in full.

30 point score increase.

Pay the OC's before the CA reports.

Don't call anyone- just send the check and let them cash it.

DO NOT even think about contacting NCO - if you do it will be on all of your reports in minutes.

Okay, I'll send the the OC but I don't have any account number and it's from 2002. Should I just list my SS# and what should I say when I send the check... that this is a late payment and I am now paying??

If you get a copy of any of your CRs you will see the account # on there.

Re: This is so weird on my CR - what should I do?

Check your TU credit report. They generally list the entire account number. But, get the report from TransUnion's website or True Credit.

Also, go online and find the overnight payment mailing address for accounts/billing.

Send a letter stating your name, address, SS#, account number and state that this is a payment IN FULL for an old debt that you want to resovlve.

Good luck. Please keep us posted.

THank you! I will do that today. One last question... if the debt occurred in Nevada and I no longer live there... state this is a payment for a debt in Nevada I want resolved?
