Hi Everyone,
This is my first post here - I've been lurking for a while and have found the info on these forums to be very helpful. First for some background info - I'm a 20 year old college student that started building his credit about 2 years ago. I started out by opening a secured card with BoA that I later got unsecured after 9 months. Since then, I've opened a Chase Freedom card ($2500) about 2 weeks ago as well as a Discover IT student card ($1500) today. Additionally, I have about $9k in student loans.
My initial card (BoA BankAmericard) has a limit of $1k and I was wondering whether it was worth it to try to do a CLI or with them or wait a while. I already have 4 hard pulls, 2 very recent (the first was a denial from Discover when I didn't have any credit history from almost 2 years ago, one from BoA, one from Chase, and one from Discover).
When I first got my BoA card unsecured, I was given a credit score of 716, and Chase recently gave it as 736 according to their system. At this point in time, should I use 1-2 cards regularly and then charge the other two every once in a while to keep some activity? I've made my payments in full all of the time and have kept my utilization at about 10%. When will I notice a change in my credit score now that I've recently opened two more accounts?
Thanks!
Make sure your utl is low on your cards specially that you want your cli
Use the link that says "Request a credit line increase" under card details when you click on your credit card account. Type in the total credit limit you would like. I think you can pretty safely ask for 3k. It will probably go throu immediatly, but sometimes you will get a 7-10 day massage and it will go through later after someone reviews it. It could fall through, but with a soft pull you can just try again with a lower amount in a couple of weeks.
Just a warning I don't think BoA does a soft pull for cli's i think BoA is always a HP. you may want to check that and not asume it will be a soft pull

+1 about 99% sure it's a HP.
