I have been fixing (successfully) my credit as of late from past issues as a youth.
on my journey I notice how important the "mix" is as well as age / amount of accounts, this lead me to banging my head against the wall, I notice A LOT of places ONLY report to Transunion. 19 Transunion accounts and 10 EQ accounts???? this makes it almost impossible to get a good mix / proper amount of accounts on EQ. I don't want to keep opening new accounts for fear of the inquiry + it will bring down the age of my accounts. any ideas on how to combat this??
@Stugotsv10A LOT of places ONLY report to Transunion.
This statement above is not true. 99% of lenders out there that do report end up reporting to all 3 bureaus.
Where tool(s) are you using to look at your reports? You don't mention Experian, so I'm wondering if it's CK. If I were you I'd pull your real credit reports and look at the hard copies. If you want a quick/cheap source for your 3B reports online, you could do a $1 trial membership from credit check total. If you see that your number of accounts is equal on TU/EX and that EQ is significantly less, it suggests that there's an issue with your EQ for whatever reason not taking the information sent. It could be something like an incorrect piece of personal information like a character off in your name, social, etc.
I mention the 2 because I do use CK on a weekly updating basis but I have my full reports (all 3) and the same thing applies, even WORSE to Experian as it has even less the EQ
First ignore the score you get from CK, they are VantageScore 3.0 which barely any lender uses, get your FICO scores from one the free offerings like creditscore.com..etc. or $1 7day trial from CCT.
Secondly, ignore the part of CK about total accounts, 0-5 = poor, 6-10 = good, 10-20 = very good and 21+ = excellent, it is complete BS designed to get you to apply for more credit through their site to satisfy advertising lenders, you only need 3-5 revolving accounts to maximize your FICO score, anything beyond that should be based on spending needs and rewards.
Lastly, are you saying you have 19 accounts reporting on TU but only 10 on EQ and even less on EX? I find that hard to believe, listing every one of your cards with date opened, balance and credit limit, as well as which is reporting to which bureau, would help us help you figure out what's going on, and perhaps what your next steps should be, like closing some of the useless and predatory cards.
