I disputed a late payment on my transunion report and instead of just removing the late payment they removed the entire account. It was one of my oldest accounts, how do I gte them to add back the account and just take off the late payment?

You'd have to talk with the original creditor (OC). If the account is open it'll probably come back next statement, if it's closed, it may be impossible, but TU isn't who you need to talk to in this case.
Depending on what else is in your credit report though, it might've been a positive to have the tradeline deleted.

I agree with the above. Check your scores to see what the impact was first, before you go through that hassle. It very well may have had a positive impact.

If the issue under dispute was the accuracy of a late, then the resoltuion of the dispute by the CRA would not have involved deletion of the entire account.
The CRA was requried to forward a copy of your dispute to the creditor.
The creditor apparently decided to delete the entire account rather than deal with the dispute, and simply chose to delete all reporting.
The dispute was then rendered moot, and the deletion was not done by the CRA, it was done by the furnisher.
You now have an unverified prior dispute with no resolution, bringing into play the FCRA prohibition against reinsertion of their account if it still included the disputed information unless they include a pre-certification of accuracy of the reported late along with any request to reinsert.
