UPDATE
Ok so I checked Credit Karma today and the CIG account has been deleted. Not what I wanted, but I'll take it if it means that last 30 day late is gone. Unfortunately, I think this CFPB complaint had some unintended consequences. Both EX and TU have deleted the tradeline as well. They had originally fixed the 30 day late when requested, and EQ was the only bureau that didn't understand the instructions. The account was about 7-8 years old, which was most certainly contributing to my AAoA. However, it didn't drop too much when the account was deleted. Overall I'm happy with this outcome. My EQ scores were always way lower than the other 2 and the reason stated was because of the 30 day late. The late itself was from 6 1/2 years ago, so it shouldn't have been affecting my scores so much, but apparently, it was.
I can do another trial with EX soon, so I'm excited to see if that account/late dropping off did anything to my EQ score.
Original Post
So I had a car loan with CIG Financial that ended back in 2013, but had a 30 day late on my last payment. Emailed the dudes over at CIG and they said they’d change it to paid on time for me. TU and EX played ball, but shocker! EQ did diddly squat. This has been going on since last freaking year, so I finally filed a complaint with the CFPB last week. I sent them the email thread of CIG saying they would remove the lates and explained what happened.
So I get an email today saying there was a change to EQ report on my CIG account. I got all excited thinking yay!! It’s finally fixed!! I logged in, checked the account, and what do you know? The late is still freaking there. Only now, they added a “Consumer disputes, reinvestigation in process” note on there.
Why are they seriously so freaking incompetent?? They’re lucky it’s late already and I wasn’t able to call today. Whoever answers the phone tomorrow over at EQ is going to wish they never started working there. They seriously must hire from the list of worlds biggest idiots.

The person you're going to unload unholy fury on had less than nothing to do with your problem. Beating them up does nothing except make someone have a bad day. Being courteous and calm will have a much higher chance of bearing fruit than unloading frustrations.
However, if that's what you need, they do make squishy balls and therapists that will probably be more therapeutic in the end.

You are absolutely right and trust me, I'm all talk. It's just so frustrating that the simplest instructions can't ever be followed with them. I'm always the nicest I can be because I know that the person who answers the phone most likely isn't the one who created the problem. I actually used to work at a job like that, and there were a few people that made me cry. Like it's not my fault that your industrial washer went down and now your fully booked hotel has no laundry service. All I can do is send a technician out. Oh boy! They did NOT like that answer.
This is why I play video games. It definitely helps with some of that frustration. I honestly believe that the late payment will drop off due to age before they get this thing right lol.
Equifax is never wrong, they might not be correct, but they are never wrong, just ask them.
Good luck, Equifax is incompetent, just look at their track record!
