US Bank and Fraud Question

Hi All,

I found some old credit reports from 2008 and on one of them US Bank is on there. It shows a credit card that had a $5K balance and says reported as lost or stolen/fraud but says I closed the account. Now, it's no longer on any of my reports and for the life of me I can't remember if I ever called them or Experian to dispute it. I've never had an account with them. What worries me now is what happened and if they think I burned them or something. Should I even bother to call them about it?  Again it's not on my reports at all. I ask because I check their pre-qual site sometime and it always hits back with nothing. I'm more worried that I'm on some blacklist for a card I never opened or had. My scores all still high 600 likke a couple points from  700. I'm in the garden because mainly I had no revolving credit just student loans. To keep myself from apping I check pre-qual sites often Smiley Very Happy

Re: US Bank and Fraud Question

You would have to call US Bank and find out if you are flagged in their system for an old delinquent account.

Re: US Bank and Fraud Question

You have knowledge that a prior creditor, at some point in the past, asserted that you owed them a debt.

It could still be an issue, even though not showiing in your credit report.

If you apply for credit where the prospective creditor asks for a disclosure of any unpaid, delinquent debt, you would have a dilemma as to whether or not to disclose.

You may feel the debt is not valid, but no actual determination has been made.

I would contact the creditor and clean it up.

Re: US Bank and Fraud Question

Thank you both. I will do that tomorrow. I've never had an account with them so I'm not worried about it being mine, but as you both stated its better that I know than worry/assume. Appreciate your time and responses.
