Unable to generate a credit report in equifax/experian/equifax.

Hi,

I have an ssn generated for me last year which is not yet associated with any bank/credit card or any account as i have not yet used it to open any acounts or loans and i am not yet employed. I am trying to retrieve my credit scores or just look up my credit scores  but after i enter my name/address/ssn , the credit reporting sites mention that they could not retreive my credit scores. Is this normal?

Yes, if you have no accounts, then there is nothing to report, so no scores / reports can be generated.

Once you open a credit and / or loan account, and the lender reports that account to the bureaus, you'll be able to view your credit reports with no score.
It will take 6 months of account reporting to generate a score.

Yes, it is normal.  Please refer to:  What are the minimum requirements for a FICO score?

Based on your original comment it appears that you have not yet satisfied two of the three criteria required to generate a credit score.

Re: Unable to generate a credit report in equifax/experian/equifax.

Thanks for the confirmation. Its been more than a year i got the SSN/EAD itself, but i have not put them to use. I am just a tad worried because i gave out my SSN on a scam call and worried if it might be used to open any accounts.. I am not able to freeze my credit score anywhere as i dont have a credit score yet though.

You can get a free copy of your credit report from annualcreditreport.com; then check it closely to see if any fraudulent accounts were opened in your name.  A credit report is not the same as a credit score.  You need to have a credit report existing for at least 6 months before a credit score, based on the data contained in the credit report, can be calculated.

Also, you cannot freeze your "credit score" but you can certainly lock or freeze your credit reports with the three major credit bureaus.

Re: Unable to generate a credit report in equifax/experian/equifax.

Hi,

I am unable to get the credit report from annualcreditreport.com

Experian says

Transunion says - we are experiencing technical difficulties

Experian says - we are unable to verify your identity. This might be because you do not have enough credit history

Equifax also says that we are unable to verify your identity.

My query is , if they cannot give me a credit report, how can they lock the credit report..  I have not been able to contact someone over the phone from any of these 3 agencies at all. I come to a point where they say i have to send them my proof of identities and request letter to freeze my credit report. I am not sure if sending would be of any help, as i am not able to find any report online.
