Unauthorized charges on Orchard CC

I rented movies out of a machine using a FP credit card.  These movies were never returned.  I have been waiting for the charges to come out of my FP cc. 

Yesterday I found that I had 3 posted charges to my Orchard card and 3 pending, each totaling $26.96, from the merchant.  Each transaction states that the card was not present at the time of the charge and were keyed in by a person.  (Should only be 3, not 6).

I disputed each charge and sent Customer Service an email telling them these should not have been charged against this card. 

I got an email from them today stating they had to wait for the merchant to authorize them to remove the charges.  ?????  I don't get it.  I did not authorize the charges and as far as I am concerned it is fraud.  I understand they want their money but use the card I used to rent them.  They went on to say I needed to contact the merchant and have them call Customer Service to have these removed.

Is this normal?  I have used several different cards to rent movies.  Does that mean they can use which ever one they want?

This has put me way over my limit.

Interesting....I just rented two movies using those automatic kiosks this morning.

Is it possible your FP card was denied for the charge total?

I have never actually read the "agreement" so I don't know if you authorize them to use alternate payment methods that you "have on file" from previous rentals.

Maybe FP wouldn't take the charge but Orchard did??? Just a thought.  And fraud would not apply if you "agreed" to these terms (have you read all the print on that screen....I sure didn't)?

Nothing on the screen except "authorizing card" comes up.

Nothing ever went through FP for the late charges.  I had the money on the card waiting for it to come out and they sent it to Orchard.

Orchard did reverse the charges this morning.  I am sure I will get a call from the merchant.  It happened last time I disputed their charges.  I then found out they were right.

This time they are not.  I would rather do a debit over the phone.

They charged my card 6 times instead of 3.
