Union Plus uses Nextgen Score?

So I just found the approval letter for my Union Plus card I got in march. The card is a Capital One card and they pulled my score from EQ 681. The range of scores 150 - 950, I assume this is a nextgen score. Why would they use this and how does this compare to an 08 score? My most recent myfico EQ score from August, 752. An improvement?

No idea why they -- or any other creditor -- uses the model that they prefer.  You also can't compare scores frm different scoring models.  There's no fixed offset or anything.  The algorithms are different.
