Update on FICO scores Post App Spree (6-8 weeks later)

Some of you might remember I applied for a large number of new cards over a pretty short 2-3 week period in late February, early March. Now that most of my accounts have reported I thought I’d update on how my score was impacted in case anyone is curious about the large number of inquiries and new trade lines. Apps Recap: 11 apps, 9 approvals. Wells fargo and apple/goldman wouldn’t budge. Quit applying and have no plans to apply for anything for at least a year. By the numbers: 3 of 9 approvals were so called “toy” limits $500-1000. Total was ~36k increase in available credit, not counting 2 amex charge cards, since they don’t impact utilization. average age dropped considerably - down to 4 years from i forget what, around 8 or 9 yrs? age of oldest account is 14 years. Fico score shot up considerably at first then dropped a lot now seems to be only slowly increasing - instead of big moves, lately just a few points increase here or there. summarizing my score since Feb: 640 to 780 at a peak, then down to 700 and now back to around 720 across experian and equifax, with pretty recent updates. transunion is about a month behind, but still in the 760s. Ive been paying down debt fairly aggressively too - so that is also a big factor.

Congrats on your spree and the DP's. Grab a tent and go camp for a year off grid. Smiley Happy

Congrats! Thanks for the DPs. I am considering going on a spree and am unsure about how I will be affected. The good news is that I feel it makes sense for me to do it now while my profile is rather young (recent restart from scratch) so AAoA won't be able to be heavily impacted. Either way I am going to move forward with it. It is good to see how others fare in terms of credit score reaction in light of a spree, though.
