Utilization question...

So let's say I have $6,000 available credit... And let's say that all available credit was based on the posession of four credit cards.  Two of these cards have a limit of $1,500 each, the third has $2,000, and the last has $1,000.  Let's say that the cards with the limits of $2,000 and $1,000 are usually maxed out but paid as agreed.  That puts my utilization at 50% but is my score hurt because I have two cards that are maxed out even though my utilization is still 50%?  Thanks in advance

After falling off the wagon while in the garden... And going 2 for 4 on a drapping spree I've finally received my coveted Discover More. And now I'll limp back to the garden.

Re: Utilization question...

Yes, having a card or multiple cards close to their max is bad. From what I understand credit utilization is important for each card as well as for your overall credit card limit.

FICO not only scores overall and individual account utilization but also the number of accounts reporting a balace each month. So you would be getting hurt 3 different ways:

1. Overall utillzation at 50%

2. 2 cards maxed out

3. All 4 cards reporting a balance at once.
