Verizon Inquiries

I purchased my house back in October and I decided to put Verizon FiOS. Applied online and they needed to check my credit and so forth, resulted in a HP. They requested I sent them a notorized letter with my DL and SS cards, which I did about a week later (no time to get it notorized).

I was scrolling through my Credit Inquiries and noticed that they did a HP on 10/17/2011 and another on 10/31/2011. Why did they pull it twice? Can I have one of those removed? If yes, do I contact them?

Re: Verizon Inquiries

I'd call them and ask why they needed to pull your reports twice. Maybe they can remove one of the inquiries.

+1

However, dont argue with them about whether it was permissible.  The FCRA places no restriction on frequency of permissible pulls.

Re: Verizon Inquiries

I don't know about OP but I was told it was going to be a internal soft pull.  They were just checking to make sure you didn't owe them or switiching because you owe comcast, direct, etc.  I found the hard inquiry too, and I am extremely mad.  I specifically told the CSR that if this was going to result in a HP then forget about it.  He kept saying "No only the internal System"  I am thinking about writing a letter as well.

Re: Verizon Inquiries

I'm gonna call them up on Monday to see if they can lift one and I will report back.

Unfortunately most CSRs don't know the difference between a soft & hard pull and/or the when their companies will do either one ~ you might be able to get them to remove the inquiry but it's not likely to happen.

What's the big deal to remove the inquiry for them?
