Want to get a Macys Card

Hi All,

I want to get a macys card because I am getting married and would like all the perks/rewards it provides with my registary, but I am not sure if I will be approved with the following FICO scores:

Trans-608
Exp-594
Equa-595

I have 4 cards that are all in good standing( the most has 1400 credit limit), but most of them are 90%utilization. I also have a medical bill that I didn't know about and now it is in collections for $424 (I always had insurance, so I don't how this happened but I am working on paying it off next month.

Also, I had a card loan and I had $2500 left to pay. I paid this and my scores only went up by 5 or 6 points and I was wondering if anyone nows how this is possible? I figured my FICO scores would atleast increase by 20-30 points.

If anyone can help me with these questions, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you so much:-))

You might want to check out www.whogavemecredit.com ... you can check by score, search by credit grantor ... very helpful!

That 90% utilization is KILLING you.  Get those below 50% at a minimum.  Get them below 30% and you'll probably see a rather large increase in you scores.

For the medical, you should check into it and make sure it isn't something that was paid or should have been paid by your insurance.  Get with them and the OC and it might (should) be pretty easy to get that one taken care of and completely deleted.  I had a few of those and they were a snap to take care of.

Re: Want to get a Macys Card

Thanks so much! I am really working hard on paying of all of my credit cards in the next two months. I just realized the high utilization is what is killing me.

The collection company is NCO and the lady I am dealing with is so MEAN and acts like I don't know my rights. I guess she is trying to scare me, but I wan to pay it off and be deleted.

Thanks again!

Re: Want to get a Macys Card

Never talk to a CA over the phone. Reasons: 1) they recorded everything you have said and it can be used against you, 2) it is easy to get flustered with a choleric CA, and 3) a CA's word is not their bond.

Get everything in writing.

Re: Want to get a Macys Card

Macys is a crap shoot. I've seen some get approved in the upper-500s and also have seen some get denied in the 600s. Go figure.

As mentioned already, get that utilization down, ideally below 10%. I'd bet you'd see 40-60 point increase if you do just that alone.

Re: Want to get a Macys Card

As for NCO, do a search for them, then look at the most recent (last couple of months) posts.

I'll wager that you'll find a fairly quick path to resolution.
