What are the odds?

Collection companies say YEP PAY FOR DELETE over the phone. But we will not put that in writing. Is it worth sending in money or do not pay? They are saying dispute after PIF and we will not respond. Is this common or tactic? Anyone go through this?

Re: What are the odds?

I wouldn't trust them. If you need to PIF to avoid being sued or otherwise, then that's your choice. But if they don't give you something in writing, I would assume that they'll keep reporting it.

Pizza, I wouldn't trust them for anything in the world. If they are not willing to put it in writing, then I would not trust their motives.

Re: What are the odds?

Exactly ... no written, no money. Thats what I told them and within 5 minutes had a fax from them so I paid. Within 3 weeks it was all gone. I have even though about starting the call off with 1/2 the CC digits and then tell them you get the rest when I get the letter ... sorry Smiley Happy John

Re: What are the odds?

I would assume that they have a good reason (good for them) for refusing to put it in writing! Smiley Happy
