What is Wrong with Equifax?

Hello all...

A friend has been trying to dispute several items. She has already been able to resolve the issues with TU and EX. She has tried for weeks to login to her EQ account and continuously gets the, "Call Us," message. She has called several times and gets put on hold. She has waited up to an hour before she gives up. When she finally did get connected to a (and I use the word lightly) customer service rep, she was told the usual useless and well-known "troubleshooting skills."

1. Turn the router off and on.

2. Use another browser.

3. Clear all your caches.

4. Download the app.

4. Try again later...lol.

She did ALL those things and the result was a complete failure as you may have guessed.

Finally, since Equifax is all-knowing and omnipotent, she was told, "It MUST be something wrong on your end." That was the sum total of assistance. Oh...I forgot...she was also offered an upgrade to a paid package...lol. I've heard this same situation from too many people. I just told her to go the dinosaur route and send dispute letters via certified mail. It took her all of 10 minutes to dispute with TU and EX. She wishes no lender pull Equifax..."They expletive stink!!!!" Her words exactly...lol.

Re: What is Wrong with Equifax?

Equifax is super sensitive if you are on a VPN connection for whatever reason. Usually they can reset password - and you'll have to wait 1-24 hours before trying to login again. Assuming that their systems are super old and sensitive. I ended up disputing by mail as it would never work for me. Hope you friend get the issue fixed.

Never used a VPN ... but always had to communicate with them by snail mail. Go figure! They have been a piece of work back many years (30 to 40) when they used to collect various pieces of background information (gossip). Terrible.

Same here. I have gotten so frustrated many times that I just don't bother with them.

Re: What is Wrong with Equifax?

Dont take it personally. They have split my file yrs ago to last year saying I had 9 60-90 lates. That was fun. Mailed in the ANC to prove there were no lates. Oh disputes with the creditors. Why. No lates are listed. #SMH. #

Re: What is Wrong with Equifax?

I would echo the comments on VPN and add some privacy browsers block information that is needed as a part of log in process. The most common is the IP address. The IP address can tell where the inbound connection is coming from.
