What is going on with my Equifax file??

The past 2 days I tried applying for both a Discover IT and Cabela's card, both of whom pull EQ.  Both denied me due to "insufficient credit history."  Which is strange considering I have years of credit history.

Today I decided to call Cabela's to find out what that meant, and the rep told me my report shows no credit usage for over 3 years?!?!  I named off a few accounts I currently have (opened within the past 2 years) and he confirmed that none of them show up on my report.  After the call, I checked Credit Karma and sure enough, it's pulling a very old report from years ago, with a very low score from before my rebuilding days.  Not to mention it's including my BK that fell off a few years ago!

I'm so upset by this.  What is happening and what can I do to fix this?

It sounds like you may have a split file, or it could be a reporting glitch. In either case, you need to call EQ.

Thanks, I'll definitely be calling first thing in the morning.  I wonder if they'll remove the inquiries since the report provided was inaccurate.

Also, I just got an alert from MyFico that my EQ score has changed.  I checked and it now says "UNSCORABLE."

Re: What is going on with my Equifax file??

EQ customer service is officially useless.

I was transferred 4 times and spoke with 4 reps (all of whom are out of the country) and was basically told they are reporting accurately as per what my creditors report.  I have a cap1 card that has a $2150 limit.  It reported that limit last month.  Now it's showing a last update date of 10/2013 with a $300 limit (which is what it was back then).  This is just one example.  My old BK is back, my previous closed car loan is back and showing a $10,000 balance.  My current car loan is gone.  All my old deleted collections are back.  Obviously they are providing old, outdated info in my report.  Yet they continued to tell me that they are simply reporting what my creditors updated with.

I asked if this is so, then how come every single account I've opened over the past 2-3 years is gone and all my old accounts circa 2013 and older are back?  The only response I got was to send in a copy of my DL and SS card.  Apparently my current address of 3+ years is gone and they are showing an old address.  How is this supposed to help me?

I'm so frustrated!  Besides this mess, I'm petrified my current creditors will soft me and seeing all these negatives will spook them.  I don't know what to do. Smiley Sad(

Contact these guys and submit a complaint http://www.consumerfinance.gov/   . I've been hammering Equifax over my reports the last week or so. They've made some positive changes. Now for them to get the dates correct...so the hammering continues!

You have to stay on them and use the CFPB as much as possible.

Thanks for the info and link.  Sounds like this is my only option at this point.

They'll take notice if you file complaints through these guys. lol

Upload all your supporting docs. If you do it tonight, I bet by tomorrow afternoon you'll see movement. I didn't get much out of them until I started going through the CFBP.

Good luck...just keep sending in complaints! Equifax was sued by one lady for 18 million dollars over reporting incorrect info. She won the case. Equifax is the worst of the worst CB's IME.
