What is the difference between date assigned and date reported?

I have about 5 things on my report shows differing dates assigned, anywhere between 2001-2006 and they all show date reported as May 1,2007.  What does this mean?  What is the difference?

Reported was the last time the OC or CA reported to the CRA.  Assigned date appears to be the date the OC turned it over to the CA.
