What's my best strategy?

I was contacted by National Credit Adjusters about a payday loan that was sold to them by the OC.  I called the OC to verify that they had indeed sold it and to whom. I checked my credit reports this morning on truecredit and have yet to see this collection show up on my reports.
What should I do next?  Since it is not on my reports as of today, should I contact the CA and let them know I am paying (not telling them it will be via cashier's check CMRRR along with a letter stating if they cash my check they will agree to my terms in the letter,ie not reporting to the CRAs, etc), or should I send in the check with a PFD letter?
I certainly don't need another collection reported to the CRAs. I am trying to "**bleep** this one in the bud" before it hits my reports.
What do you experts think I should do next?
Okay, the word I used was not a bad word. It is part of a well known saying. Sheesh!!

Re: What's my best strategy?

You said you were contacted, was that via mail or phone?

If by mail, read the letter, some CA give you 30 days to pay before reporting.

If not, send them a letter and ask them if you pay in full by XXXX date will they not report and send you a letter saying such.

Re: What's my best strategy?

Thanks sidewinder.
They contacted me first by phone and then by mail (letter dated March 12).
I will do as you suggested.
