What's up with TU?

I've noticed that ver few CCC use TU for a credit check.  EQ seems to be the preferred CRA, followed by EX (according to my reports anyway).   Why are they not using TU?

Who knows. Maybe it has something to do with how slow they are at reporting, or maybe they are more expensive to use. The CRA used is also determined by where you live. EQ is king in the midwest, but EX catching up. There are still companies that almost always use TU:

Wells Fargo Financial (not the bank)
State Farm Visa
Hooters Card
Juniper
Target
National City

Which bureau they use depends on both the issuer and the state you live in.  A lot of accounts I open online check Exp while loacals check EQ since it is the one that most of our locals report to.  HSBC seems to be the only one that I apply for onlie and use EQ.  It seems they use the Cb geographically for your location.

I can see why they would use Exp.  Unlike the other bureaus, it is impossible to bump inquiries and almost equally impossible to dispute negative info successfully.

Just be glad CSC does not manage your file.

I've seen posts about CSC what exactly are they and what makes them so bad?

Re: What's up with TU?

EQ apparently subs out their work to CSC in about 15 states. If you wanna dispute with EQ, you have to go thru CSC. I cannot adequately summarize the disdain for CSC--mostly because I've not had to deal with them. Here are some of the complaints I've read.

Contact phone numbers are a moving target, latest of which aren't toll free.

Physical location is also a moving target. CSC is in Texas, but their location has moved from El Paso to Houston to Dallas.

Website has a number of issues that leads many to shun it. Forgets your login and you have to re-register every time you return.

Some have reported positive TLs were deleted after they disputed adverse TLs with CSC.

Re: What's up with TU?

Is there a list of states that CSC works the Equifax disputes?

Texas that I know of. Florida and North Carolina I think. If you wanna find out if you have to suffer under CSC, try their dispute link. Plug in your Zip Code, and it will tell you whether you go thru CSC or EQ.

Re: What's up with TU?

CSC is an Equifax affiliate. They handle the credit files for most comsumers who live in the Midwest and are a real pain to deal with. If you're in CSC's territory, you don't really have an "Equifax" credit file per se. Equifax reads the credit file's info from CSC when one orders a CR, for example, but Equifax doesn't control or amend any of CSC's database.

Common complaints include:

- Hard to get a hold of (Main number rarely works)
- Online disputing form is atrocious
- Issues complying with 30 day dispute window
- Delete wrong info (positive TLs)
- Several other illegal practices
