What to do?

So i read on here in the past and it makes me paranoid but i read someone applied for a job and it requests for SSN as usual. Well that job applied them for their store card without their permission. In the event of this happeneing that would be considered ID theft would it not? What would you do?

Re: What to do?

I would think it would be hidden in one of your new hire paperwork. If not, well work life may get uncomfortable.

Contact the lender new accounts/ analysts and explain what happened and it was not authorized. Small chance they believe you and delete. Now if this is a company policy without notice they may delete so you don't raise a ruckus.

You would have to confront the supervisor who Btw may have created a illegal BS policy to inflate store cc apps. Of course he may not do anything and hope you will just go away with a "it's store policy " explanation.

Then you would have to contact corporate, district or regional managers to escalate the issue. Likely corporate would be best but who knows. This is where store manager may get into some trouble creating the hostile atmosphere.

Overall I'm just glad I had never had this issue..

Re: What to do?

The specifics matter and without knowing all the details it's impossible to say and not worth worrying over IMO.  There are all sorts of things you can read on the internet and you have to always consider your source, validate, corroborate, etc before getting all worked up over something that may or may not be reliable information.

If not authorized then, yes, it is something that could be disputed.  However, this may have been disclosed in hiring paperwork that the person overlooked.
