It is automatic -- in the sense that neither creditors or consumers have to take action to cause inquiries to drop off. The CRA's database handles it.
It's quite possible (even likely) that if you had pulled your credit reports a couple business days from now, then those Dec 4 inquiries would have dropped off. It's also possible that one or more of the CRAs may wait until the following month to delete them.
An even more interesting question is when FICO's algorithms stop counting them It's roughly a year, but does that mean exactly 365 days? 366 days? The 1st of the month following 365 days? Since each FICO model has a CRA specific flavor of it, does each CRA do it slightly differently?
We had a long discussion about that maybe six months ago. Nobody knew for sure though opinion seemed to lean toward 365/366 days.

Somehow I was browsing my actual credit report with Experian today and I noticed that I have 5 inquiries from 2 years ago still on my report. I'm wondering when will they actually disappear. I took note that today is December 4th and I remember December 4th 2013 was when I started to rebuild. I have come such a long way. From $500 in limits on that day to $150k today. Score from 580 fico to 710-740 today. I thought It was automatic that the old inquiries would be removed. I guess not.
Give it another day or so and see what happens. It is supposed to be only 24 months.
I have seen TU drop off at exactly 2 years to the day. The last one to fall off my EX took almost a full extra month to fall off. If it is not gone by this time next month give them a call but it should fall off by then.
Unlike the exclusion of derogs, which is controlled under the FCRA, the removal of inquiries is entirely an administrative decision by the CRAs, and they have discretion.
There is no precise date for required removal.

What discretion? If that is case who is to say it wont be there for 3 years or even longer? I can see waiting another few days but Ive never seen somewhere written that they have Discretion. It clearly says inquiries will remain on report for up to 2 years. meaning 2 or less. Not 2 or more. If you see something like that feel free to cut and paste it in this thread. This is the purpose of my quesiton to begin with. Also as other poster stated. when does the affect from score ceast? I noticed equifax stopping at about 2 weeks before the 1 year mark as i always get boost. The others im not sure at all. for some reason under this new windows browser i cannot post image on myfico or i would let you see what im talking about .
Experian removes Inquires the during overnight processing the first Saturday/Sunday of each month follwoing the removal mo/yr. Any 11/15 scheduled will be removed tomorrow night.
Any 12/15 scheuled removals will occur overnight 1/2/16

Ok, for those who have difficulty with small print, here is an enlarged image from the prior post.
EX removes them on the weekend of the first FULL WEEK of the month.
