When do they update?

Is there any corelation as to when thr CRA's update opposed to when you billing cycle closes, or due date or anything?

Just looking for a way to tell when different lenders will be updated. Thanks

Re: When do they update?

Most CC's update to the CRA's on their statement dates. Then you have to wait for the CRA's to update. Experian usually that day or night, EQ 4-5 days later, TU another day or more after that. EQ and TU sometimes swap on being the latest.

Exceptions to statement dates for CC's: US Bank; HSBC/ Orchard bank cards (not store cards in most cases.) They report the balance that shows on the last business day of each month. US Bank updates right away, no telling with HSBC/ Orchard --generally within a couple of weeks, although they sometimes skip entire months. American Express reports the balance on your statement, but they don't send in this info until 4 weeks after the statement posts, right before the next statement comes out.

Loans and mortgages generally update to the CRA's within several days of their statement dates. Then you have the usual delay waiting on the CRA's themselves, as described above.

So most credit accounts update on their statement dates, reporting the balance due that is shown on the statements. Then, you wait.

Remember that even if you pay off your CC's as soon as you get the statement, in most cases, that $0 doesn't report. It's the balance that you paid off.
