Who is USAA?

I was looking over at creditboards.com under their credit pulls forum and i seen that USAA approved scores that were like mine for pretty decent CL's. Anybody ever had experience with them or know anything about them! Chime in! Thanks!

Re: Who is USAA?

We Know What It Means to Serve

In 1922, when 25 Army officers met in San Antonio and decided to insure each other's vehicles, they could not have imagined that their tiny organization would one day serve 6 million members and become the only fully integrated financial services company in America.

We believe they would be pleased to know that USAA has remained true to their founding values of service, loyalty, honesty, and integrity.

The Value of Membership

USAA is not a publicly traded company, so we don't answer to stockholders — we answer to our members. They rely on us to suggest products and services that meet their financial needs. In fact, some of our best advice costs absolutely nothing. Advisors in our Financial Advice Center are here to answer questions, large and small, at no charge.

Are You Eligible

USAA membership is a privilege earned by those in uniform — and it's a privilege that can be handed down to their children. Those eligible to join the association include:

  • Active duty officers and enlisted military personnel.
  • Former spouses and adult children of USAA members.
  • National Guard and Selected Reserve officers and enlisted personnel.
  • Officer candidates in commissioning programs (Academy

Re: Who is USAA?

USAA: I have my auto insurance through them thanks to being a third generation Army brat.  I'll be adding more financial products in the near future and as my scores increase, so should my CL.

USAA credit card saved me in the worst of the bad times.  Now, paying it down, down, down....

Their customer service is exemplary, the people are all absolutely professional and yet warm.

I could be a commercial for USAA (grin).....

Now, if my scores get high enough, I'll do my auto loan over the summer through them, even though my CU folks are wunnerful....

Re: Who is USAA?

MY GOD!!!!! USAA IS THE BEST!!!!

I too am a 2nd generation from a Vietnam Vet and I have put my husband on and my step-daughter.  So from here on out my step-daughter can add her family one day.  They have the best customer service ever!!!!!!  They are AWESOME, if you can get their insurance you are in like flynn.  If you are eligible you need to take advantage of them ASAP.  Sorry if I am over exaggerating but they are the best for real.

For Example:
I was in an accident (totally my fault and I totaled my car) 3 months after my dad took me off his insurance and put me on my own idividual policy and they didn't drop me, paid all my bills, paid out my total loss, and my rates did NOT skyrocket.  I've had numerous speeding tickets and still haven't seen a big premium jump.  (not that I'm proud of my past speeding habits, but this shows you how great their insurance is)

If you get them for insurance, credit, or anything else,  Never Ever Ever Ever drop them because I heard once you drop them you can't get them back (not sure how true this is, but trust me you would never want to drop them anyway)

Really? As in working for USAA? That's great!

And if you're "just" a customer, that's great, too.

I was trying to figure out what I have with them.

Checking (direct deposit)
Savings
Money market account
Roth IRA
AmEx
MC
HELOC
CD's

Got all three kids and DH in. Both DD's have banking and CC's with them.

If I can ever make DH sit down long enough, we'll be switching auto and homeowners to them as well.

Er...what if my case is the opposite? I went to apply for a USAA Bank account (USAR) and found out that one had been opened and charged off in my name years ago. Not to mention that when the original billing address was disputed (hellooooo, not mine), they went and slapped another billing address on the account - one where I haven't lived in nearly 10 years! I even did everything all wrong - verified my SSN, gave my mailing address, the whole nine. I even offered to PFD, but they won't put it in writing. (Of course, they're glad to take my money.) USAA Bank may be tops in customer service, but they will bring you to tears if you're on the other side. But a good thing did come about all this: I used think I wanted a USAA account, and now I KNOW I don't. Thank goodness for Navy Federal!
