Why did they place a fraud alert on my file?

So, in late October, I received letters from all three CRAs stating that they have added a fraud alert to my file. Experian even states "Because we have received multiple recent requests from you to renew your Initial Security alert, we will automatically renew your alert every 90 days FOUR additional times."

I have not requested anything from them EVER. Never even called them or mailed them one single item regarding my own credit file. WHY are they doing this? So I attempted to call each one to see if there was a real person ANYWHERE who could tell me what it's all about, and now I'm just too stinkin' frustrated to continue.

I suppose I will now write letters to them all. Perhaps it doesn't matter, but what the heck are they doing there? Just making stuff up? I haven't disputed anything, haven't been applying for tons of stuff, what is their deal?

I guess I'm just venting. Stupid CRAs.

Morons.

Have no clue what's going on.

Idiots.

Yep - same thing happened to me a while back. I did, at one time, dispute an item as "not mine" and that triggered an alert. Had to send the letter with proof of id to get them removed. All was quiet for awhile, now one has appeared again by EQ, but not the other two.

Sigh.........who knows. Looks like the only way to get them removed is by letter with proof of id.

Yeah, I already made copies of my DL and a utility bill. Will send those letters soon.
