Will Bureaus change length of history on AMEX if I ask them?

I would like the bureaus to show my real start date on my AMEX cards.  I have been a member since 1988.   My reports only show back 3 years so my " length of history "  on my credit reports could be way better.    Will the bureaus change the date if I ask them?

While you have been an Amex member since 1988, was there a period when you didn't have any Amex cards?   Were the accounts you currently have opened only in the last 3 years?

Amex stopped backdating card history for cards that first reported to the credit bureaus on March 21, 2015 or later; so if you current cards were opened after that date they will not be backdated.  There's a long thread that discusses this issue:  Amex No Longer Backdating to Credit Bureaus

Age of an account is a calculated, not a reported, value.

It is calculated by the difference between today's date and the date opened of the account.

The creditor reports the date opened.

The CRA will not change that reporting based on a request by the consumer.

The CRA would be required to investigate the accurate of the reported date opened if you file a dispute, but they will then rely upon their referral to the creditor and the creditor's response in determining the accuracy, so again, it will be what the creditor verifies.
