The other day I tried to open a new Chase checking/savings account online. It was denied because it stated that I had an account with them. I gave them I call and to my surprise I had a checking account with them that was charged off for $73.00 but was sold to another collection agency. The chase rep informed me that I would have to go to a chase branch to apply for a new checking account. My question is, should I pay off the 73.00 to the collection agency and then go to a chase bank and open a new account or could I still open another account without settling with the collection agency? This account is not showing up on my credit report.
Pay the $73 and you will then be able to have another account with them. As long as that amount is still unpaid, you wont get a checking account with them.

Did just that today, went to Chase and asked for a military checking they didn't even cross reference or contact the CA about the charge off if I paid it or not. Anywho I'm a new-new Chase customer. Time to start rebuilding my relationship with them.
