What is a "hard pull"? Is that an inquiry?
I have several inquiries in the last year and they say written authorization....No idea who they are or why they inquired. (I did opt out a few days ago as directed). Like this one for example:
MIGHTY NET, INC
9040 TOPANGA CANYO BLVD
CANOGA PARK , CA 91304
(818) 407-4620
Requested On: 09/2008
Permissible Purpose: WRITTEN AUTHORIZATION
Hard pull is an inquiry on your credit report that is shown to anyone requesting a copy of your credit report. When you shop for credit (mortgage, auto, consumer loan, store card, cr4edit card), these inquiries are registered in this section.
Soft pull is an inquiry on your credit report that is shown only to you, the owner. When an account owner, or yourself, access your credit report, these inquiries are shown here.
A quick search on the web reveals that Mighty Net is a company of questionable reputation involved in providing consumers with their own credit reports. Did you buy your credit report from these guys? they acted under a bunch of names and have been sued for infringement by AMEX and Experian among others.
No I didn't. I ordered the Privacy Assist thru my bank (B of A) and thats it. I haven't even applied for anything over a year. I have a former employer (a hospital no less) I worked for a couple years with an inquiry on there, NCO and this Might Net inquired 5 times!! and 2 other places I've never heard of.
I have "Regular Inquiries", "Promotional Inquiries" and "Account Review Inquiries"....??? I see the "Account Inq" are displayed only to me it says, but I still don't know who they are or where they got thier "written authorization". What can I do about this?
Google them and call them??
Do a search for the non permissable purpose letter. You can send that to the Might Net people. They'd have to prove they had your permission to hit your CR. Maybe they would delete it/ recode once they got that letter.
Good luck.
MIGHTY NET, INC is a AKA for creditreport.com
This should be a soft pull-
