YESSSSS! GW to Chase must have worked like a charm!

I sent a GW (my first ever!) to Chase Manhattan Mortgage about some old late payments on a mortgage from a home I sold a few years ago.  Not only did they change the status to Pays As Agreed (from derogatory), they also removed ALL the late payments for the four years I had it!  8 30 day lates and 5 60 day lates!

Please don't scold me for the number of lates...I was a kid.  I am working very hard to make right on EVERYTHING!

Thanks Chase!!!  The next home I finance, I will start with them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice one.  Now wait and watch the bump in your scores
The slide from grace is really more like gliding
And I've found the trick is not to stop the sliding
But to find a graceful way of staying slid

Re: YESSSSS! GW to Chase must have worked like a charm!

Thanks!  How long to do you think it will take to bump the score?  I mailed it on July 16 and just got the adjustment to my reports!

Here is the letter I sent:

Name

Street Address

City, GA Zip-0000

Regarding Account # ************

Customer SS# *********

July 16, 2007

Chase Manhattan Mortgage

1400 EastNewportCenter

Deerfield Beach, FL33442

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing to see whether Chase Manhattan would consider making a goodwill adjustment to the credit reporting bureaus on my closed/transferred mortgage account. I am humbly asking whether Chase Manhattan would remove the adverse late payments reporting from these accounts in reporting to the credit bureaus. I understand this is a rather unusual request--particularly as my accounts fell behind upwards of 60 days but Chase was always willing to help me instead of moving into foreclosure.  Never did I feel threatened during my time of youthful financial mismanagement.

Chase Manhattan Mortgage was extremely helpful in working with me at a time of job changes, my wife’s layoff and missed payments. The ease with which I was able to resolve this account and ultimately sell the home gave us a lesson learned and helped us to move forward.

If what I ask is too much, then any goodwill adjustment to the reporting bureaus would be most appreciated.  I am in the process of repairing my credit to help buy a new home and the adjustment would definitely help me with my FICO score and this endeavor in home ownership.

Regardless of your decision, please know that we thank you for helping us at a time when it was needed, and I hope and plan to do business with Chase again one day.

Sincerely,
