So I called EX earlier to request some incorrect personal info(addresses, name) be corrected. I got an email later on which I checked out, and it listed 3 items deleted. It said:
Name - Outcome: Deleted
Residence - Outcome: Deleted
Social Security Number - Deleted
I dont see my SSN(nor my Birthdate) anywhere on the updated report, so I can only assume they really did delete it for some messed up reason?
I cant call back until Monday when they reopen I guess? What is this going to do to my score & relation to my current creditors? I only have positive accounts on EX, no negatives.
I'm not sure how I went from requesting a few mistakes corrected to having my SSN deleted without my approval??
Any ideas on what to do & expect until this gets resolved? Ironically I was required to enter my SSN on the EX site to view the updated report that stated my SSN had been deleted.
Forgot to say, the name & addresses deleted were copies of incorrectly spelled ones. I still have my name & current address listed.
Yikes is right. That's kinda crazy. Did you dispute your SSN by accident?
I had a similar experience with EQ. They had some employment wrong and I was trying to correct it and they just changed my ss#. Lmk if you can fix it. I tried.

Really? They still haven't corrected your SSN?

Nope, I just called on the phone & said I was trying to get a couple of old addresses corrected due to misspellings & a couple duplicate entries as well as a misspelled name. Should have been pretty straightforward I would think. They actually wound up deleting the old addresses & that name which is fine with me since they aren't tied to any accounts, but I wouldn't have any reason to dispute my SSN since it was correct.
I'm hoping I can just call & maybie fax or scan to pdf my documents or something along those lines. I applied for a Federal job recently & don't want them asking why my SSN & birthdate are missing lol.
Just when I think I've heard it all, something like this comes up! ![]()
I agree completely that I would be proactive in trying to get the correct number reestablished.
Here's something to consider: since the SS# is originally reported (and associated with our names) by our creditors, if no action is taken I wonder if it would correct itself the next time a creditor updates with Experian? I'm a bit too "OCD" to simply rely on this (and it's just a 'hunch', anyway) but it does seem sensible.
OP, if (when) you're sucessful in getting it corrected, let us know how you did it! ![]()
I guess I won't try getting an old address straightened out. Crazy indeed..
I'm calling them Monday to try & sort this out. Will update then.
