Yeah... So according to CK my score just jumped 60 points.

So I logged into CK a few minutes ago and found my score has jumped up 60 points since I logged in last month!  According to them my one baddie in collection was "removed" and it says that on both of the reports they pull.  I then checked my FICO on three different cards and none have budged at all, not even a point but they all have not updated in the last 30 days.

This is an interesting suprise, I have no idea why the baddie was removed, I did nothing and it was only about 3 years old? Very small, roughtly $300 but I did not owe it and I refused to pay something I did not owe.  So at this point I'm confused but happy.

New score is 752!

Sure hoping this new score proves to be true, I like that score very much.  Hoping the FICO socres on my cars reflect it soon so I know it is true, I only have the three cards and would like to get a few more to broaden my options and rewards.

Re: Yeah... So according to CK my score just jumped 60 points.

Oftentimes ths happens when one collection agency stops trying to collect on a debt, it goes temporarily back to the OC, and then shortly afterwards a brand new collection agency will pop up on your reports and they will try to collect the debt.  Sometimes this is repeated several times over the years.  I had one collection drop and reappear four times as collectors changed.

I did manage to pay mine in full during one of the time periods when it was changing hands and the new CA had not yet reported it.  I paid the OC and it never showed up again on my reports.

This would be a very good time to make a formal request to the OC - for you to PIF and them not send it out to collections again and remove any lates you have on the account. Or, if it's bad enough, just to remove the tradeline entirely.

Re: Yeah... So according to CK my score just jumped 60 points.

How interesting, I'd not heard of this happening before.  I honestly do not owe this stupid $300 but I may just pay it again (ATT ETF fee, paid in store and was fine, three months later this showed up and no one could tell me why I had to pay twice.) just to get the score bump as that is a huge jump.

It has been a few years so I'm not sure who to call to get it resolved but I may try this.  In fact I'm off to google ATT numbers now to see what I can do!

Re: Yeah... So according to CK my score just jumped 60 points.

Well I tried, I contacted AT&T and tried to pay the $300 but they say it is $1100 and there was nothing they could do to lower it.  I was just talking to the average rep, but neither he nor I know who else to contact so I said I guess it will go back to collections then!

If I'm lucky maybe noone will pick it back up, though I know someone will.  No big deal I guess, but the 60 point jump will be appreciated while it lasts!  If I'm still clean in about a week I might try a couple of cards I've been wanting to get....  Waiting to see my FICO socres update on my existing credit cards to see if they match the CK numbers first though.

And your balance increased by nearly 400% why?

Re: Yeah... So according to CK my score just jumped 60 points.

Great question, they said they could only look back one year of time and it has been back in 2012 this happened.  I in searching to prepare for my call had actually found my final bill that I had taken in and paid in the store, 242.32.  They could not find that, but I had the account number so they could look it up and they came back with the $1100 figure.

The collection on my record showed somewhere right around $300 I know for sure so I'm not sure why they are showing $1,100.  I was calling ready to pay right then, but not $1,100 that I know there is no way I owe. I told him that I'd pay them, but never a collection agency and he understood but said there was nothing he could do.  Guess I live with it for another 4 years.  Smiley Sad

He also said somehting about 7 lines of service, when I never had more than 5 so who knows what is going on, and goodness knows ATT could not tell me.  He blamed it on ETF fees, but 4 of the five lines were out of contract and the last only had a couple of months so no way is that amount ETF fees.  I wish I could have paid and moved on but they are so hard to deal with that it was a waste of my time.

Don't make no sense... They are charging you for something that they are unable to provide an itemized bill for the services they provided? Something is amiss, either in your undertsanding or in what you are allowing. "Here's a bill for $1100 but we can no longer show you what's it for becuase we don't know either as our records don't go back that far". Ya, sure...

Re: Yeah... So according to CK my score just jumped 60 points.

If they place it out again you can request a Debt Validation which you can request the underlying record and if they can't produce it, it has to be airstruck is my understanding but I'm not an expert on that (paid my collections before finding this forum, sigh).

Re: Yeah... So according to CK my score just jumped 60 points.

Well I have an update on my suitation, the collection report was killed from all my reports except for Experian.  I joined Credit Check Total to check this yesterday, so I'll file to get it off of there.

Yesterday I got a new collection notice from a new company.  They said the same balance as the last, $358 or so and they would settle for $178.  I called today and offered to pay the $178 if it would never go on my credit report, they had not yet submitted it to the credit brueaus and said if I paid now it would never be sent in at all.  I made sure to specifically ask this more than once, the lady was very nice and confirmed that it would not be on my report ever in any way.  I recorded the call to make sure I have this to fall back on.  Paid it, cont my confirmation number and hopefully that is it.

I'll get the one old agency report off of Experian and hope to not see any new ones at all due to my timing.  Here's hoping!  I still have no clue what the AT&T guy was on about with the $1,100 stuff.  Regardless that is over and done and I'm baddie free other than a tax lein I paid a few years ago.

I used my higher scores while I had them to get a few more cards that I wanted, this will help me build my numbers faster with more lines reporting.  I now have 6 cards total, two of my new cards gave me 5k limits, what an improvement!
