Yes! Collection deleted. 17 point jump.

After talking with Hilco Receivables on the phone, I was finally able to convince them an account was not mine by showing my DMV record with my addresses on it proving I never lived at the address they said I did. This resulted in a 17 point increase on EQ. My scores are actually getting somewhat okay after years of being in the low 500s.

I still have to COs reporting on EQ that I can't seem to get rid off. Both are from HSBC. Are COs worse than collections?

Portfolio is my final collection, and it's reporting on TU and EQ. I can't seem to get rid of these guys. They should drop off in 5/09, but I was hoping to get them removed sooner. I don't think they PFD.

Re: Yes! Collection deleted. 17 point jump.

I got the same reply from a collections account for Sprint. "NO PFD".
However, I am just starting out with repairing my credit but here is my game plan for this CA :

Send the letter asking for PFD anyway. Maybe you'll get someone else who doesn't know what they are doing?
When Refused, send second PFD letter with copy of a check that they can have if they approve PFD
When refused, Send third PFD letter with copy of certified funds check from bank, since there is more reliability involved with certfied funds...

The worst they can say is no right? Which is where you started in the first place...
Just an Idea...

I am weary of giving my checking account info to a CA. You sharpie out the account numbers and other personal info right?

Re: Yes! Collection deleted. 17 point jump.

I would never pay with a check from my account or my debit card.  I only use cashiers checks or money orders.  And cashiers checks I will no longer use from my own bank.  I will go to another bank to get one.  I do not want them knowing where I bank.

Sending them copies of the checks, no matter how you end up handling it in the end, is more of just a visual thing. Instead of just saying that "I promise I will pay in full", epecially to a company who has already verbally told you they wont do it.

Sometimes you have to be ruthless.
