Re: authorized user help needed

Being an authorized user will not have much affect on your mortgage application. An authorized user has no responsibility for payment, etc., so while it may help your credit score a bit, your lender will know it doesn't mean anything.

The side effect of having added an AU to your credit report and scoring is that it automatically makes any score no longer representative of an assessment of only your history.

A prospective creditor has no way to accurately create a score that does not include the AU.

They know what an AU is, and know when a score is not an actual risk assessment of the applicant.

When applying for higher amounts of credit, such as an auto or mortgage, creditors will sometimes require that you remove any AUs so that they can obtain a "real" score.

AUs are not a free lunch.

You might consult with your prospective lendor prior to assuming that an AU will help you in quest for thier credit, even though it might produce a score increase.
