authorized user

Ok let's say a friend puts me as a authorized user under his barclay card. Will they eventually send me a credit offer? I've been told that it happens and I'm skeptical.

Re: authorized user

Sorry but your credit profile will determine whether or not you would receive an offer. Remember, AUs are not responsible for the cc, the lender has no information on you, income, credit etc.

Re: authorized user

No telling.  Being an AU doesn't automatically lead to offers in and of itself. As indicated above, it's your credit that matters.

Re: authorized user

It may even make their decision making more difficult.

Once you have the account history of his card reporting to your credit file, the creditor will therafter have no way to use your score as an indication of only your own, personal risk.  They cannot back out one account and produce a score representing you without that account.

It its a card where therir approval process is pegged primarily to your score, they wont have one.

Re: authorized user

next question? straying completely from the previous i have a first premier, credit one, cap one secured and fingerhut accounts.i know first premier sucks and credit one isnt impressive at all, but they were pretty much the only ones i could get with being 18 and no history, scores a 647 from inquieries before i wisened up and read about score factors and such, never missed a payment paid off an installment loan. nothing bad on credit other than inquires and a total CL of 1,350. it'll be a year in a month since the majority of my inquieries should i try again for barclay or wait a full 2 years? cap one for 10 months first premier, credit one and fingerhut for 2 months each. also how long do inquiries hurt you for? i've heard after 6 months they stop hurting your score but they appear on your report for 25 months? so if i wait untill 20 months do creditors still think about them? or is it once 25 months are up they stop caring about them because they have fallen off? sorry for all the questions! and im sure i spelled inquieries wrong..sorry
