authorized user ?

I just was added to my Mom's Macy's account.  It is a cli of 1500.00  However they only added my name and not my ssn or address etc.  So how do the credit bureau's know to report the card, or how does Macy's report it if they don't have your ssn?

Re: authorized user ?

I just asked something similar when I was looking into being added on BF's Gap card. They send the card to the address on file for the primary card holder. I guess in most situations if the AU is legit, there will be some type of obvious match, such as sharing an address, or perhaps formerly sharing the same address, same last name, etc. - in the case of it being folks that are not married, living together or family members, I really don't know how they would do that. It's a mystery to me.

Re: authorized user ?

It reports--- I guess the same way some CAs report without your SS number.

Re: authorized user ?

I added DH to Walmart card and it showed up on his the next day, and all I gave them was a name!   BUT, let me add this...  I got a 29 point EX jump in score when balance reported at 0 this month, he got nothing.  Has the new AU rule kicked in already?

Re: authorized user ?

FICO has announced that AU accounts will continue to be scored, but there will be some sort of super-secret process to identify bogus accounts.

Probably there is no change on his report because of his report being very different from yours. The same action on one person' report might cause an increase, a decrease, or no change on another's.

Re: authorized user ?

Even though the util for that one particular account changed the same on both reports, did overall util change the same on both reports.

Re: authorized user ?

No, I guess not, his other CC was already <10% and it only went up 10 bucks this month, still under 10%.  Mine on the other hand dropped from 78% to 44% and from about 50 % to 0% on the other.  My scores have improved considerably since the end of April, 106 points to be exact.  I think I'm going to leave mine be for a while and just concentrate on DH's.  I'm getting ready to finish up this Hippa battle with his CA accounts.  Maybe his scores will "unfreeze" after that.

Re: authorized user ?

I added my sister to my Macys - Macys sent me a form for her to complete and sign. They ask for address, SS number and a few other things.

Re: authorized user ?

I still have my ex husband on one of my credit cards (because I'm super nice). I wonder how he'd be effected if I removed him. It's a 12 year old account, no negative history, limit of $350.

Next time he makes me mad, maybe I'll test it out! Smiley Happy
