Have you pulled all three of your credit reports from annualcreditreport.com to see if there's a fraudulent account listed? If not, I'd encourage you to do so ASAP.
I'm a little confused, though-- How did you become aware of the possibility that there was an account opened without your knowledge? What do you mean that "your neighbors and people you work with" are able to access the account? How did they become aware of it? How are they able to access it, and how do you know they're accessing it?
Have you tried contacting Wells Fargo, directly, about this account? You can call them, or go to a WF branch (if you have one near you) and answer the security questions that they have in lieu of providing an account number. You can also put your request in writing.
