cap1 being...nice???

I have 2 old CC accounts from cap1 that should have been removed in 3/09. My scores are very low...I figured what the heck...I disputed them anyway to see what would happen. One of the accounts had a zero balance, but many lates. After disputing....I recieved an email stating that the account has been updated. I logged onto TC and sure enough...it was updated...but to a POSITIVE status- no lates, $0 balance/paid off. But now it is to remain on my CR until 2015.
Since I am not used to crap1 being nice....should I be weary of this since it has been reaged even if it is in good status now? Is there any hiddena genda on thier part?

They have been a bit weird lately. They erased a $762 CO balance on DW's CRs and replaced it with $0/paid charge-off. They erased lates and everything. We sent PFDs and hope they'll accept to have it all deleted.

Re: cap1 being...nice???

Whatever you do.... I suggest that you let it be if it improved your credit score. I recently had Crap1 delete several of my lates.

However they wasn't updating my balance with EQ so I decided to dispute the balance of my capital one account.. They updated with EQ and reinserted the lates as wellSmiley Mad

So now i'm sending them another GW and hoping they will remove the lates....

I sure hope they keep it up. We just sent two GW letters for old acc'ts of my husband, hoping they'll delete the "paid after collection/charge off/" status. Maybe your good juju will stay around for us!

What address did you send your letters to???

Where did you send your letter to get them to remove the lates?

Re: cap1 being...nice???

I think I am confused.  I realize you are happy that the negative information was removed. Why would you want the information to stay on your report 6 years longer (you stated it was due to fall off in 2009, but will now stay on until 2015)?

Re: cap1 being...nice???

The reason they changed it to fall off in 2015 instead of 2009 could be that it is now a POSITIVE account on your CR.  Closed accounts with no derogs stay on your CR longer (I think 10 years).  This will help you if they did erase the lates.

Re: cap1 being...nice???

I disputed through the transunion website- not by fax/email/snail mail. I am still awaiting the other account information. I hope they adjust that one too....it was a charge off with $1600 balance....I'll post when the judgement comes...LOL

It was an old account...so my FAKO score rose only  7 points...but at this point even 7 points in the upward direction is hopeful. I certianly won't say anything to crap1 about their possible mistake on this...I was just suprised casue they never changed anything for me...they even went to far as to report more frequently when I would dispute. Thats why I figured it certianly can't hurt me further to dispute this...they got my scores hostage at this point with the other account with them.
