Re: chapter 7 bankruptcy removal

No, a ch 7 can not be removed until it is 10 years old. I have 1 yr & 6 months before mine can come off. Do not hire a credit repair company.

Re: chapter 7 bankruptcy removal

I have a BK from 99, I have not been successful in getting mine removed, but I do know people who have so I still try occassionally. I would suggest trying because you never know. However if worse goes to worse I only have 2 more years.

Re: chapter 7 bankruptcy removal

How can disputing a BK which is obviously yours possibly work? I'm tempted but don't want to create any undue problems for myself. I wouldn't mind getting it removed early but is there any downside to trying this since it is so easy to prove that it is my BK? What good would it do if it came off one reporting agency's file but remained in the other two? I have heard one of the bureaus is easier to do this with just forget which one it is.

is everything listed correct?

"I did not file on 2.1.2000"
"I never filed zero liabilities"
"I do not recognize case number XCRD453"

Re: chapter 7 bankruptcy removal

So there is no downside to trying to dispute?

So don't dispute as not mine.

Re: chapter 7 bankruptcy removal

Adverse TLs sometimes drop off before their time. For a variety of reasons.

Re: chapter 7 bankruptcy removal

I'm not giving advice about how to do it, but to those who say "it can't be done, wait 10 years for it to drop off".....I say, you're wrong. Unless I'm just an anomaly. To those trying, forget the naysayers. Do a little research.

Re: chapter 7 bankruptcy removal

A score may actually drop when the BK7 comes off, at least temporarily. My understanding is the score is based somewhat on how credit activity compares to others who either have or have not filed - depending on your situation.

If credit activity has been positive since filing - compared to others who have filed - one can have a relatively high score while the BK is on CR. I've had no lates, etc., since, so that's probably why I had a 680 score (last year) at 2 years post-BK. But when it drops off, you are again compared to all who have never filed, so depending on behavior since the BK7, one may actually experience a drop in score. If there have been no lates, etc., since filing, scores may or may not improve... I don't think I explained that very well; trust one of the experts here can explain it better.

In sum - another credit scoring conundrum... Does that make sense?
