Hi everyone,
Just today I decided to go to a credit union to open a checking/savings account. I was told that I was unable to open an account as I had a "record" with them.. Oh really? I had paid that account off over 3 years ago, was paid in full and never on my credit report!!!!! I immediately wrote a letter to the credit union requesting a history of payments and a statement saying this account was paid in full on what date? Will this make a difference or should I say the heck with it.....? I don't feel I should be penalized for paying a debt in full over 3 years ago and it was never on my credit report?!!!! Whatzupwiththat? Any suggestions???

Ilec,
how do i pursue the Chexsystems history? I am trying very hard to get these items washed off....Do we have a backdoor number or address for Chexsystems? This forum has helped to get me motivated more than ever....thanks to everyone ........

I believe you can only receive your report via mail.
Hey all,
Guess what? I called the Credit Union and talked to someone and lo and behold, they are allowing me to open a checking account....Yippeee....I feel I am making progress here guys, and it is all with your help....thanx so much.....Also, I have another question...I have a Target account that I cut up the card, and have been making payments on it monthly....I had a 500 balance and it is down to 329....If you were me would you pay it off or just keep making monthly payments.....I just wonder how much my credit score would jump if i paid it down under 100? Any suggestions? And by the way, why am I still a visitor on this site....I want to become a part of this.
thanks

Is the card closed? If so, PIF ASAP. If open, and your CL is $500 or more, then continue to pay it. Impossible to guage a score change without your other CC balances, CLs, and overall utilization.

Hi Bonnie,
Congrats on the acceptance. But if I were you, I would still order the Chexsystem report. Chances are the "charged off PIF" is on the Chex report. If so, I would try to get it removed by speaking with the bank manager. All it takes is for them to give Chex a call. You will save yourself a lot of hassle down the road in case it does not work out for you and the CU.
As for the target, it just really depends on your situation. If you have enough money laying around, then why not. If your on sort of a budget crunch, you can still continue as you are (but always try to make more than minimum payments). Your score will be reflected as you pay it down.
chopbroccoli,
Yes I ordered my chexsystems report and it should be her within a few days....as for Target....I have been making payments on time but with the interest rate of 20something %, I feel that it would be a smart move to pay it down to as much as possible. ....Of course I have other bills that require payments too, but every month I figure in an amount to pay down Target and it dosent't happen. This month I think if I do pay it down, it will show a significant change in my credit score.....Hoping???? It is actually a high interest card and if I get rid of that, it will help somehow, right?????? Am still making payments on other things as needed...
Scores as of today are
TU 597
EQ 580
EX ?
Thank you for everything guys....I will be working this one til the cows come home!!!!
Love Ya
