I am currently having problem with Experian unfreezing my credit report. I unfroze it and 2 creditors said that it is not unfrozen with experian. I called experian and they claim it is not frozen. I went back to experian and they still claim there is no freeze with them. I am stuck and can not get experian to figure out the problem. anyone with a similar problem or any suggestions. thanks in advance.
How long after you unfroze Experian did your creditors try? Unfreezing can take hours or a day or so to take effect.
You might try going to Experian.com and try a free trial on one of their monitoring services, it will tell you if it is frozen or not.
It has been weeks and the creditors are still seeing it as frozen. Also, I did try the free trial and the customer service rep said it was not frozen but the 2 different creditors said it was still frozen and these were multiple calls to different reps. A very strange situation to say the least. I am lost, Experian is telling me, no sir you are ok for sure. The creditors are telling me they definitely can not access experian because of the freeze. I am lost in limbo here and all I get are customer reps that are pushing me off the phone. I presumed somebody else is going through this and had an asnwer. Thanks for your feedback.
Well, a service with Experian should tell you if your report is frozen or not. I have a service with all 3 CRAs to lock my report, so that I have control over my report instead of some rep who just wants to get rid of you asap. My EX service tells me my report is locked or unlocked.
What is nuts about this whole fiasco is that I looked it up and it states unfrozen, but multiple creditors are still telling the state of the report is frozen. I will have to join a service to address this issue to lock and unlock which should help me with Experian in particular.
I have free services with TU & EQ to lock/unlock, EX is the only cheapskate that requires a pay service to lock/unlock. I use Experian IdentityWorks Plus for $9.99/mo., besides lock/unlock it gives you unlimited Fico8 scores & complete reports. I believe there is a basic IdentityWorks plan for $5.99/mo. with lock/unlock & limited scores & reports.
Looks like that is what Experian is baiting me into. LOL. I believe I will follow your approach with the 3 cr.
Looks like that is what EX is baiting me into, a paid service. I will follow your approach with all 3 agencies.
Keep in mind that locking and freezing are two different functions, I believe you still have to make sure all 3 are unfrozen before locking/unlocking via app can be functional. I'm in the same boat as Dave, rather than dealing with all the inconsistencies of freezing/unfreezing, I opted for locking/unlocking except I'm currently paying zero, 4+ months ago I signed up for the CCT $1 trial and when I canceled via their automated system they canceled my Experian credit works instead. After I called into the Experian line to restore credit works and cancel CCT, Experian has not initiate the $9.95/month charge since even though it shows under my subscription, all fingers crossed.

Hey DaveInAZ,
What service are you using? How much?
