Hello readers........I opened up a checking/sav acct at my local credit union..I'm trying to get a loan in the near future....Do they use FICO scores to check on you?  Or do they have a banking system credit check.?..Just wondering...thx

Re: credit union question

Depends on the lender and what type of loan.  They should tell you if you ask though.

Most cc's are PFICO credit card enhanced scores.

Auto loans are auto enhanced scores.

Some banks will run you thru ChexSystems for bank accounts and possibly loans.

There are way too many CRAs these days!

Best advice is to get your FICOs as good as you can and keep them that way... that is going to be the most overall helpful element.

Get to know the other credit reporting type agencies and see what they have on you.  Some you can correct just like the main CRAs, some you cannot.

Re: credit union question

Opening an account at your local CU - is a great move.

I opened mine in July with my local CU, Oct opened a 50K HELOC, and in Dec a 10K CC.

My old bank would have laughed at me---
