delete inquiry?

I looked at my credit report, and saw a ton of inquiries for credit that I didn't apply to. 3 cards were opened in my name This past Jan. and i already disputed them. Can I dispute inquiries? If I cant, who would I write the letter to? They are affecting my score and I need as high a score as I can get!

Re: delete inquiry?

It wasn't all-out identity theft like in the commercials... with the 2 old ladies making motor cycle noises.

I saw on my credit report "regular" inquiries from: Capital 1, Wachovia, NCO financial, American General, TD Banknorth, Citibank, Wells Fargo, Credco, Cba, Commerce, HSBC, Bank of America... the list goes on. Some of these like citi, american general, capital 1, and BofA were requested 3 and 4 times each.

Three different cards were ordered, and the credit lines were opened. HSBC, Household Bank, and First Premier. I didn't realize until January when I pulled my credit reports. I had them closed and thats when I subscribed to lifelock. I have fraud alerts on Equifax, Experian, and Transunion... and also had added in that before any credit is opened, they have to call me at a certain phone number IN ADDITION to all of their procedures to verify my identity.

Would I dispute this with the CRA's, or the inquiring creditor(s)? How should I, and what should I say?

Re: delete inquiry?

A car dealership had done a hard inquiry on my CR. I disputed it with Equifax and nothing happened....I went to the dealership and  threatened to sue them.....the Manager wrote a letter stating that it was done in error.  I sent it to Equifax and they removed it.
