Re: desputing incorrect

Hi -

You can scroll down this page and look at the blue shaded area to find  "Dispute credit report mistakes" as the last item in the first column.  Clicking on that link will enable you to get myFICO assistance in initiating a dispute with any of the CRA's.

I've initiated an online dispute with TU through their site at annualcreditreport.com.  Just be sure that you have correct information to provide them as disputes can take

30 days or longer to resolve.

Hope that helps ---

Re: desputing incorrect

First, and foremost, tell us what incorrect information you are disputing.

Yes, you can dispute on this site, but no, I highly recommend against it.  You dont have to send disputes snail mail, but should.

How to dispute is a topic upon which you will get much feedback.  I offer only mine.

I would start the discusion by saying that the absolute, last way I would ever dispute is through the FICO website. A double-filter.

That is the decade-old dispute process under FCRA 611(a), which congress just recently released you from the burden of.

They truncate your dispute, then it goes to the CRA, which then codes it into their "E-Oscar" system, which further abbreviates it to the three-digit code letter.

Then the CRA forwards your three-digit code to the credtior.  The creditor then responds by way od their own three digit code, and thus, Whallah!  Disptute resolved for the benefit of the creditor.

As of July 1, 2010, Congress has now put into effect what is called the "direct dispute process."  (It's legal basis, should you choose to read, is FCRA 623(a)(8).)

What it means, after chewing all of the legal language aside, is that you now have the legal right to bypass all of the restrictive and sanitizing dispute procedures discussed above, and disptue, without ANY CRA involvement, directly with the pary that has posted any information to your CR that you dispute.

I know that this is a whole lot to throw at you,  So please just first tell us what you are disptuting.  The process will follow from that.
