duplicate bank collection/chargeoff

Hello all! I have received so much help from all of you, and even used the PFD to boost my credit, so thanks to everyone for that!!! My question is, on my husbands CR, an old bank account that went to a charge off from 3 years ago is showing up twice on Experian. Its listed once to both Transunion and Experian, and then shows as another account with Equifax and Experian. Its the exact same amount across the board- and when he called the bank, the amount isn't even correct, he owes 100 less than what shows on the CR. They said everything will be fixed when it is paid. That just doesn't seem right, that they are reporting the wrong amount owed, and that it is showing up twice to Experian. What route should we pursue. I'm trying to get this all done while my DH is deployed. All help is very much appreciated!

Hi acissej, welcome! Smiley Happy

Have you negotiated a PFD with the OC? That seems to be in order.

And when you say: "They said everything will be fixed when it is paid." Fixed in what way?? Mark it as paid, or delete the entire entry, or entries?? VERY important. You want it deleted.

Re: duplicate bank collection/chargeoff

I'm assuming they just meant they would only have it reported to Experian once. And they would show it paid. ( I didn't know about PFD when DH called and talked to them) Agreed, I do want it deleted from his report, we are looking into buying a house at the end of the year, and his credit is needing some improvement. I wasn't sure about sending a PFD since it is to the OC, and it is a bank.. but I guess it couldn't hurt to try- its a low amount, so we can PIF. If they refuse the PFD, should I DV it just to get them to remove the report from showing twice on EX?

Re: duplicate bank collection/chargeoff

If it were me, I would approach the issue on a pif PFD basis only for now. And yes they HAVE gummed up your cr with dup baddies. That's a good argument for you when pleading your pif case. After all, it's only for $100, and you ARE going to be house hunting in the fall. and with that baddie on the cr, it will make it more difficult for you to get a favorable, affordable rate.

Well hopefully with the small town atmosphere, and a small bank, I pray they look favorably on your PFD. Good luck honey! Smiley Happy

Re: duplicate bank collection/chargeoff

If a CCC has listed an account as CO, there shouldn't be a past due balance reporting should there?  I just noticed this on my CO
