getting a check cut from CC for a positive balance

Hi,

Two weeks ago Citibank posted a "courtesy refund" on my Citi CC. I haven't used this card in at least 6 months so it had a $0 balance, so with this "refund" I have a positive (credit) running balance of the refund. I have no idea what this refund is for, so before my lottery ticket gets snatched from my fingers before reaching the cashier, I called right away and asked to have a check cut for the credit on my balance.

The refund posted two weeks ago today (wednesday). I called Monday last week, and the credit still appears on my account.

Does anyone know how long CCCs usually take to send out these checks? I don't want to call and ask just yet because it hasn't been more than 10 days, but I thought by now it would have at least posted as leaving the account.

Thanks!

About 10 days. In my experience.

10 business days?

And is that 10 days until they cut the check and drop it in the mail, or 10 days from when you notify them until you have the check in hand?

10 days from when you see it deducted from your account.

if this is the courtesy credit thing Citi did for my moms account to, it's to get you to use the card. I'm not sure they will actually send you a check for it.  Why not pay for gas with the card or something.

So if it hasn't been deducted from my account yet, and it is going on two weeks this coming Wednesday, should I call them back?  When I called to get the check cut they didn't say that it couldn't be done, or that it wouldn't be processed...

I'll let others help you on the how-long-does-it-take, but you really might want to use the card pretty soon. Citi likes to see its cards used (so they told me), and it would be a shame if they closed it for lack of activity.

As the other poster said, that courtesy credit might well have been a gentle nudge from citi to get you to start using it again. (I'm not a citi fan; I'm just cursed with one of their cards that I'm trying to get some GW on...)

What if I transfered the balance to a credit card that I actually use? Does it transfer the credit?

I do need to pay my tuition. What would happen while there is this "supposed" check being cut and I charge the exact amount of the current credit?

At this point should I just assume the check isn't coming?
