OK i just got thru checking my equifax credit report. and it shows all the hard pulls as well as soft pulls on my credit.
suddenly i see a hard pull from ing. whoever they are from todays date.
I never apped for ing . what the hell. what do i do.?
the only thing i did today. was got an email from cap 1. explaining i could get a 50 dollar bonus if i open a checking account.
cap 1 360
it stated if i used a debit card 3 times. then bam. the 50 buck bonus. so i did it. it also asked if i wanted overdraft protection on my checking which i said. yes.
it said how much would you like.
gave me multiple choice.
100 ot 200 dollars.
i said 200.
i came back and said you were approved for 200 dollars in overdraft protection. is it possible that this is ing? i dont even know what the hell is ING.
this has me very pissed.
Can i dispute this with the cras as this is a inquiry. that i diid not authorize. i only opened a checking to get the bonus. damn. advice please someone.
prefer someone who knows about this and whoever ING is
Ok. i found the answer my self on wikipedia. ooh my god.
Cap 1 is now ING>
and they did a damn hard pull on my credit for a checking account.
I cannot beleive this.
bait and switch. asked me if i wanted overdraft protection and boom. hardpull. ooh my god.
here is answer. from web
In June 2011, Capital One Financial Corporation purchased ING Direct USA from its Netherlands based parent, ING Group, paying US$9 billion (€6.3 billion).[53] The sale was completed onJune 16, 2011]]]
why would i need 200 dollars in overdraft protection. it is and unsecured credit line according to cap 1.
so if i go over on my debit card. will i get charged late fees?
this is way too much.
as i assume the unsecured 200 line of credit will kick in.
wow.
hope no one else is sucked in.
i wonder if they triple pulled like they do with CC apps.
bummer, sorry... thanks for the heads up
but, it's a nice cushion if you ever get tripped up by some idiot double charging your checking account or whatever.
I'm sorry, but this is YOUR fault.
I personally just became a member of Capital One 360 as well, and it was clearly written that if I want overdraft protection, it will result in a credit check.
Sorry, but people need to start reading and stop complaining about things that are clearly their own faults.
Possibly. I didn't get that memo obviously. . But ooh well. I can't put Jeannie back in bottle. Hp did not say cap 1. Said ing direct. That's why confusion. Until I read cap 1 bought them out.
I also have Capital One 360 checking/savings accounts.
Your credit got pulled because you accepted the overdraft protection above the initial $25.
From what I remember (unless it has changed), there is no "fee" if you overdraft your account and go into your overdraft protection. You just pay the interest (11.25% APR) on the overdrawn amount. It's actually a pretty good overdraft protection program. Bummer that it costs a HP if you want the extra amount, though.
I declined the extra amount and stuck with the $25 overdraft protection. There is always that button to apply for more, though.
BTW, I notice that the CapOne360 accounts show up as ING often, so get used to that (at least for the time being).
Well that's good it shows ing direct.
Pas soon as I got hard pull. Barclay bank did AR. They so paranoid. I can't app for 6 months since I got their card.

Don't rely on memos. Due dligence is the responsibility of every individual. Always read the terms, FAQ's etc and make sure you fully understand what you're agreeing to. See also:

If you choose to apply for the Overdraft Line of Credit, a credit check is required. (This is a "hard pull" and may impact your credit score.)
Keep in mind, if you choose to apply for an increase to your Overdraft Line of Credit, that would also require us to do a credit check regardless of whether or not you were approved for the feature or an increase within the same day.

Failure to read and understand != bait and switch. Don't gloss over the terms next time.
Yes. The bait. If you don't understand. $50.00 bonus. The switch. Bam. Hard pull.
