help please!

Hi if anyone has any suggestions. I have an old charged off debt from a cc from capital one. The account was closed by credit grantor in 2001. On my cr it shows that it should have been removed January 2007. What can I do to have this item removed?

Thanks

Re: help please!

It can be 7.5 years in some cases- that would have been July- check w/ the mods but I would dispute as too old.

Re: help please!

Are you trying to make a major purchase right now?

If not let it drop off in Jan on it's own.
Any other action will just bring attention to it and/or update the dates,

As cap1 is not very responsive to PFD -

If you have a moral obligation to pay this- do so.

Re: help please!

Thanks for the advice, but h how do I dispute this? I am willing to pay this debt. Should I do a pfd letter instead?

Thanks

Re: help please!

Hi, thanks for the advice. I am not trying to purchase anything right now. It was suppose to drop off this year in January. I do want to pay the debt. I just don't know what to do at this time.

Thanks

Re: help please!

If it was suppose to be removed in Jan 07 you can just dispute it as being to old and it should come off your report.  I had one that was like this also.  It was an old credit card that I was late on a few times, but paid it in full.  They wouldnt remove it from my report so it just sat there for 7 years.  It was suppose to come off in june of 06 and was still there in Jan 07.  I just called the CRA and disputed it on the phone and it was removed.
