help with collection 465yc00000!!!

Hi, I'm new with this and I would love some help!!!. I try to take care of my score so I got really frustrated today when I found out that I have a collection on my Equifax report for $70 dollars from this company 465yc00000 from 2006. I have no idea what this is. Also nobody tried to contact me about this debt ever!!. It doesn't show the company name or contact info. I already wrote a letter to Equifax. I know there some other people on this forum with the same problem so I would really love if anybody can help me out with what steps should I follow in order to fix this. It's affecting my credit score greatly. Thank you guys so much

Re: help with collection 465yc00000!!!

It's a medical collections.

If you check or pull a copy of your report from the CRA it's on, it will give you more information.

Re: help with collection 465yc00000!!!

Because of the privacy provisions of HIPAA, CA's for medical collections typically have names like what you see. They also don't reveal the original creditor. It wouldn't be any big deal to show "S. Jones, M.D.", but if it said "Eastern State HIV Specialists", for instance, it would be serious lawsuit time.

$70 sounds a lot like a co-pay that wasn't made or recorded, plus fees tacked on. You should be able to get the real name of the original creditor (which might be a medical billing office) from the full credit report that you get from the CRA. With medical collections, always go to the OC first. medical people are more likely to retain ownership of the account, and if they will take your PFD (if warranted), they should be willing to pull the account back from the CA, and you're in good shape.

Re: help with collection 465yc00000!!!

Thanks so much. I'll try to find out because I don't really remember this... But let me see if I get this right : PFD is pay for delete right? so you are saying I should go to this medical office and pay the $70  and they will delete this collection record on my account?? At this point I don't even care if I have to pay that as long they take that out from my record. I'm so frustated right now because I had no idea about this and nobody ever contacted me at all requesting payment and I don't think is fairSmiley Sad
To find out about this bill should I call Equifax? Will they give me the name of the company or hospital?

                                Thank you.

Re: help with collection 465yc00000!!!

With a PFD, make sure that you get their acceptance in writing ahead of time, agreeing to your payment in exchange for pulling the account back from the CA AND removal of any negative reporting for the credit bureaus.

I think that you have to buy the report to get the full information. It's usually around $10, and you can get it online at the CRA website. Need to make sure that you'll get the info you need:

Veteran CA warriors, will OP be able to get the name/ address/ phone of the OC with an online full credit report?

Re: help with collection 465yc00000!!!

Thanks again, I'm still kinda lost!!! I've tried to find the letter for the PFD I couldn't find it. I'm also thinking should I request a DV from them?. At this point I just wanna take the faster way to fix my score and it's only $70 so I don't mind paying if this is gonna help my situation. It's just that I really wanna make sure they take it out of my record and I swear I feel I'm in lalaland with all this.
Thank you so much for your patience, help and instruction!!!! I'm learning a lot but it's gonna take me awhile to get used to all the terms and stuff...
                                       Have a great weekend everybody!!!

Re: help with collection 465yc00000!!!

Check for "Frequently Requested Threads." It's stickied at the top of most of the boards here. There is at least one thread included in there that deals with PFD's, and it has sample letters.

Since you are appealing to the OC, if you don't see a PFD designed for that, you might want to tone down any anger that you read in the samples. With medical collections, you are essentially trying to ally yourself with the OC, and cut the CA out of the loop. Smiley Wink

Re: help with collection 465yc00000!!!

Thanks! I found this letter is that ok?. What should I change?  Should I send it to the CA or the OC? Should I say that I agree or dispute the amount (whatever is faster)?
